Advice for the Great Beyond
By Jack Schwinkendorf
When going out into the wilderness, always make sure at least one person knows where you are going or the general area you will be in. That way if you do not turn up at a certain time, they can alert the authorities. The first mistake Chris made was just wandering off by himself into an uninhabited area. The second and possibly more dangerous mistake was being very unprepared. Survival experts say that a large hiking backpack is only able to carry enough essential needs for only 5 days out in the wilderness. Chris only had a small school backpack with raw rice and hardly any water. Having a necessary amount of water to survive is essential. Sadly no evidence of a water distiller was found at the bus sight that Chris died at.
